Village and harbor on the north coast, twelve kilometers from Korcula. It lies on the south coast of the cove Racisce that is open to the inland of the island. West of the village are the coves Vaja and Samograd that are good for swimming. Racisce was inhabited at the end of the 17th century by the refugees from the Makarska seaside and Herzegovina.
Cove of Vaja, which is famous for a white stone prepared in the stone quarries is nearby Racisce. Cove of Samograd is also near Racisce and its natural entrance is covered by bush. Racisce is a perfect place for your vacation because of crystaly clear sea, quite and peace.
Racisce is well known in Croatia for it's capable sailors and fishermen. Sailing and fishing was for long centuries the main profession of it's inhabitants. In late 19th century and beginning of 20th century, Racisce used to have about 40 wooden schooners with huge and gorgeous masts and sails, locally called "trabakula".
