Beaches in Dalmatia, Croatia
Zaglav beach
Nice sandy beach in the bay of Zaglav on the southwest coast of the island of Vis. If you have a car it is possible to approach only partially since there is no road to the beach. The car should be parked at Milna bay where is another, smaller sandy beach. However, it worth the effort walking for about 15min. (1km walk) to Zaglav beach. On the west side of Milna cove (where is a large stone wall) there is a narrow walking, well beaten path to Zaglav. The sandy beach is extremely clean, quite large and not crowded at all. Actually, if visitors plan their one day trip to Zaglav beach during June or September it is probable to have the beach completely for themselves.
Stoncica beach
Stoncica cove on Vis island boasts a beautiful beach with crystal clear sea. It differs from most other bays on the Adriatic by the fact that it is a sandy cove. The underwater slightly decreases, therefore, even after 30 meters from the shore the sea bottom is shallow. Stoncica Bay is located three nautical miles east of the port of Vis. Access to the bay from Vis town is easy with a new paved road that leads to Milna cove and Rukavac on south side of Vis island. Last 500m of the path to the cove is unpaved, which must be done on foot. From there a walking trail leads to the sandy beach Stoncica. From Stoncica bay can be easily the Stoncica lighthouse, one of the largest remaining manned lighthouse on the Adriatic.
