Kornati

The Kornati archipelago consists of 140 islands, islets and cliffs, with 89 of them declared a National Park because of its natural beauty due to its numerous coves and crystal clear blue waters. It spreads over a surface of 220m2 and declared a national park in 1980 due to its unique shape and beauty. There are no permanent residents of the islands and most of the area belongs to the people of Murter island who come to tend the olive groves, the vineyards and orchards.

A real sea labirinth

This summer I did a very good holiday to discover Slovenia and Croatia. The first thing I recommend is the trip to the National Park Kornati Islands. I've been there a single day but it was enough to fall in love. The Kornati archipelago has about 140 islands (many uninhabited rocks and islets or rocks). George Bernard Shaw wrote, by the aura of mystery and legend characteristic of these islands, that God at the end of creation, found himself with a handful of rocks, mix them in tears and breath and threw them at random on the sea surface and, pleased with the result, let them as they were.
The islands are easily reached from Biograd and Zadar (in about 2 hours), with ferries and tourist boats leave every day designed to suit each "pocket". The first proposal was startled at the thought of having to travel for around 35 euros on a kind of boat made entirely of wood. Although, the offer was somehow adventurous, we took ferry for the modest price of around € 20. We had access to the natural park Telascica, drinks no limits and a lunch (although served at 11.20 am) meat, fresh fish and salad. The departure was at 9:00. On board the piano bar there pounding with songs in Croatian (language actually not very musical!). Tourists who stay on the islands Kornati themselves find themselves immersed in nature. There are no hotels, are mostly fishermen to rent rooms inclusive of tank rainwater drinkable, light and cooker gas. The supplies are made once or twice a week and tourists find themselves having to deliver the shopping list for the home side as there are no markets or supermarkets, you know anyone involved in the sale of certain foods. The houses of fishermen act also as restaurants, where, if necessary, you can enjoy fresh fish.
The trip was unforgettable. We arrived around noon at the wildlife park and soon we threw ourselves in the spectacular salt lake. Water emerald, sand-smelling spa, and a bush untouched where several donkeys lounging. We take great photos! On the opposite side of the lake there was a restaurant and a steep driveway. At the top we could see a fantastic view of open sea from a height of 150m high cliffs. Not satisfied we returned to the lake, where we relax for the rest of the afternoon until the departure of the ferry, back to Biograd around 18:00. Truly a fabulous day! And how do you imagine heaven? Maybe it is not exactly like that but we've been very close!
