There are two nice green islands just off the Rukavac bay , on one of them
(Ravnik) there is the famous Green Grotto. Tourists can go on organized excursions by motor boats or visit variuos interesting places ranging from picturesque small villages in the interior to the ancient towns - Vis and Komiža. There they will find numerous restaurants famous for their Dalmatian specialities, particularly delicious, fresh fish barbecue.
In the vicinity of Komiža there is the island of Biševo with its well-known Blue Grotto. Daily excursions there are organized for groups of tourists by motor boats departing from Komiža and several times a week from Rukavac.

Distances / macrolocation description

I will give you instructions how to get to our house in Rukavac.
In the full season there are two ferry-boat lines connecting Split with Vis. One is at 9o'clock in the morning, the other is usually at 2.30 p.m. but it depends on a particular day of the week. The journey by ferry-boat lasts about 2.15 h.

On your way from the town of Vis (where you arrive by the ferry-boat), you will have to leave the town by an asphalted road and following the traffic signs you will pass through a large, flat field covered by green vineyards. You will come to the crossroads where you will see a half ruined red house  (used by the workers in the vineyards). At this crossroads you will see the traffic sign, the right road leads to Komiža, the second largest town on the southern coast of the island and the left road leads to Rukavac.

Komiža is a very picturesque old little town, very attractive with its nice restaurants. The town faces the island of Bisevo with the famous Blue Grotto (cave), people say that it is even more beautiful than the similar one in Capri.

From the crossroads leading to Komiza and Rukavac, following the left road, you will come to Podstrazje, a small village up the hill on the left side of a rather sharp curve, in fact another crossroads where you will turn to the right. You will drive down past some houses but you must keep driving to the bottom of this road and you will find yourself close to the sea. If you ask anyone for direction ask for DONJI RUKAVAC ( The Lower Rukavac ) because there is also GORNJI RUKAVAC ( The Upper Rukavac), an old village and a new settlement up the hill.

So, when you come down the hill there is again a sharp curve leading to the right, follow again the right road and on the next small crossroads turn again to the right. There you will see nice houses with gardens on each side of the street, turn into the first small street on the right. Our house is the second on the right side.

Apartment

The apartment Mihić, 3 stars, 50 square metres, 80 metres away from the sea, is situated on the southern coast of the island of Vis, in a small place called RUKAVAC, 10 km away from the ferry terminal and the town of Vis, surrounded by the crystal clear sea, beautiful beaches and small islands.

The apartment on the upper floor of a new house, surrounded by greenery, olive, lemon and orange trees, vines and flowers, has two spacious bedrooms with a balcony of 16 square metres, the sea-view, modern kitchen with a balcony of 9 square metres, bathroom with shower and WC, another WC and a vine-clad parking place. The apartment can accommodate a family of 4-5 members. The apartment can accommodate a family of 4-5 members. There are comfortable double beds in two spacious bedrooms. In one bedroom there is also a single bed and in the other a sofa and a TV set. There are several beaches nearby.
