Being aware of the importance of tourism, Split built a number of modern hotels, ant its face, turned to sea, has been adorned with a line of marinas, ranked among the most beautiful ones on the Mediterranean.
Tourists have the privilege of seeing performances of top quality artists in the festival known as Split Summer Festival. Split has a long sport tradition. Numerous sports sites, one of which is the city's football stadium, are the masterpieces od sport architecture. But the greatest attraction of Split according to many are the people themselves. In 1988 Ronald Templeman wrote that nowhere in the world has he seen taller men and more beautiful women. The well-known journalist might have exaggerated, but his opinion is strongly supported by the fact that Split, with its two hundred thousand inhabitants, is the only town in the world having three natives playing in the American NBA and that a girl from Split and another one from a nearby town were the most beautiful on the Planet.

I am Australian born and was very fortunate in staying at my aunt's flat in Split during July, 2009. Her flat was about a 15-20 minute walk to the promenade along the water and the Diocletian palace.
I was overwhelmed by the beauty of Split and the Dalmatian coastline. I love it so much I feel that I would like to buy a little apartment there.
