Zadar town

Zadar Croatia, as an Illyrian settlement, dates back to the 9 th century BC. Several layers of city walls, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque monuments and a preserved collection of church silver and gold witness the city’s tumultuous past.

Today Zadar is the administrative, tourist and cultural center of the region called the region of national parks and islands, it includes four national parks and 1200 km of a picturesque sea coast with 300 small and large islands, peaceful and untouched bays and about fifty attractive tourist destinations. Modern hotels, camps, private suites, villas and nautical centers are situated along Zadar's tourist region, both on the mainland and islands.

A little bit of everything

This summer I was in the Croatian city of Zadar, a city heavily influenced by Italian culture.
It is a coastal city and like all cities of that kind Zadar has it port and promenade. A curious moment about this tour was an organ played by the sea. The water, entering through the tubes situated at the sea level, generates a very relaxing sound and you can spend some time just listening, or even showering next to it.
The beaches I've been there were of stones (pebbles), sometimes very uncomfortable, especially when entering and exiting the water but has the advantage of leaving you clean and not just full of sand like on sandy beaches. We also say that as a rule the beaches are clean and are not very saturated with people. It is clearly a tourist town and it shows in the large number of tourists and backpackers who come for its beaches and the many stalls that are in the downtown.
I recommend the restaurant Rafaello, where the steaks stuffed with ham and cheese are delicious and of course, its special dish for 2 persons, the "Raffaello". The price is very reasonable. As for things to visit and see the most striking is the Church of St. Donat dating from the ninth century, is circular and its interior has excellent acoustics. It is used as the concert stage of the annual International Festival of Music of the Medieval Renaissance. Located in the downtown and 5 minutes of the organ at the sea coast.
